You all might see Ashley scurrying around the bar, and that is because she is hard at work putting The Ruck on her shoulders, doing the dirty work and making sure all operations run smoothly. Ashley is our Front of House manager, and here you can get to know her a little better!

Ashley started working at The Ruck in December of 2014, which at the time she primarily was raising her two babies, Aiden, & Althea — who are now 6 and 7 — and the loves of her life.

Before having kids, Ashley worked for 9 years at Albany Medical Center as a phlebotomist, spending her last two years there taking night classes to become a licensed massage therapist.

Her massage therapy career came to a sudden halt, days before graduation. She had become pregnant with her first child, Aiden!

Even before entering the medical field, Ashley has had a long background history in the restaurant industry, working in it for 9 years, beginning at the age of 14.

”My first experience at The Ruck came in 2008 when I started dating my now husband. His brother worked in the kitchen and ‘I just had to come check out this awesome bar and have some great wings.’”

And the rest is history! Like many of our staff, she started as a customer... came back as a part time employee! Ashley began working private parties upstairs, to then serving tables and finally becoming Front of House Manager in 2018!

”I love working here because of the family atmosphere. The staff here always has your back in times of need, whether it be work related or something else. I’ve always taken pride in where I work and this establishment provides me with a place I am happy to call myself a part of. What’s awesome about The Ruck, staff are given opportunities to take classes and expand their knowledge of craft beer. And because the vast majority of our staff is Cicerone Certified, I obtain knowledge passed down from them on an everyday basis.”

Ashley has been a fantastic employee for the time she has been here. And everybody on staff appreciates the time, effort, and dedication she has put forth to making The Ruck the awesome place it is today. Cheers Ashley! The Ruck wouldn’t be “The Ruck” without ya!
