EXECUTIVE CHEF RACHEL MABB

Originally from Brooklyn NY, Executive Chef Rachel Mabb has cultivated her passion for food from childhood. Even at a young age Rachel was watching Julia Child, and experimenting with recipes and cooking. Spending summers upstate in her Grandmother’s garden, cooking for the household after school, and experiencing all of the culinary influences New York City had to offer all left an early impression of love and respect of food.

Rachel, an alumnus of the New York Restaurant School in New York received her formative training at JoJo under four star celebrity chef and James Beard award winning Chef Jean Georges Vongerichten. During her tenure at JoJo, Rachel was introduced to the flavors of Southeast Asia, as well as given an opportunity to further develop her training with classic French cuisine.  From there, Rachel continued her career in Manhattan at such notable restaurants as Mirezi, a project of Chef Anita Lo, Tabla with Chef Floyd Cardoz, as well as working at Istana at the New York Palace Hotel, and working with caterers such as Thomas Preti, Abigail Kirsh, and Sterling Affair before moving to the Capital District in the summer of 2000.

During her time in the Capital Region, Rachel has led kitchens at the Shipyard, Crowne Plaza Albany, Rensselaer Banquet & Conference Facility, the Hilton Garden Inn Troy, Carmine’s Brazilian Grill, and finally, The Ruck, and Next Level at the Ruck. At the Ruck, Rachel has found a home and a great outlet for creativity, being able to work with a fantastic array of craft beer from all over the world. Her past experience has given her the ability to constantly create menus that pair and compliment the stellar beer list the Ruck have to offer.
